Actions You MUST Take
To Get the Most
Out of Your Business Lunches
By
Cynthia D'Amour
Too many people fail to maximize their experience by going directly back
to work after investing their valuable time at a networking lunch.
A few focused minutes back at the office will help you to
amplify the value you got from the meeting.
After each lunch
1. Review the experience.
- Was this worth my time?
- What did I learn from it?
- What will I do differently next time?
2. Note what you learned about the person you lunched
with.
If youve invested the time to have lunch with a person,
they should have a spot in your database.
Youll want to track what you learned so you can continue
to move your relationship forward.
Things you might make note of:
- Situations to ask about the next time you see them.
- Birthdays, special events, and other important dates.
- What you learned about their business that might help you refer
others to them in the future.
3. Do any follow up work that you promised at lunch.
If you offered to share a resource or pass on a referral,
take care of it as soon as you can.
4. Send a thank you for lunch.
Whether they bought your lunch or simply invested their
time in meeting with you, a thank you note reinforces the image that you
are a class act.
People like to be around people who appreciate their
time.
Take these four actions after every business lunch (or coffee)
and you'll soon see the return on your investment of time grow.
