A sampling of some of Cynthia’s consulting work…

Leadership Development Model Creation

Cynthia worked with an association looking for a content model and framework to use in creating their leadership development program.

Cynthia held multiple live mind mapping sessions with leaders in different levels of their association. She created content maps of the discussions from each session. She created a survey option for those leaders unable to participate in the live events. She also did an onsite visit with association staff to get their input on what needed to happen.

Cynthia combined all her research into a simple five-part model for the association to use in developing training for their leaders.

On an interesting side note, attendance was up at their next leadership meeting. Being personally involved in the process gave leaders some skin in the game and they felt more engaged in the future of the association.

Strategic Action Plan Created by National Board

This association’s CEO wanted his national board to be more actively involved with the strategic plan for the association. He asked Cynthia to guide his leaders through a process to develop an action plan showing how and when they could be actively involved in moving the mission forward.

Cynthia trained the national board the first evening about how to get move volunteers involved.

On the second day, she used a jigsaw puzzle approach to facilitating that had all board members working actively on three of the five areas covered in the strategic plan. The leaders did actual work – such as creating quick videos onsite or check-lists to help others – as well as fine-tune the realistic steps on their action plans.

Cynthia had groups dynamically change with each round of involvement. This helped board members get to know each other better and strengthen commitment to the work.

She used whole group strategies so board members would be emotionally connected to all five strategic initiatives – not just the three areas they actually worked on.

The board loved the experience and wanted Cynthia back for a second year.

One-Day Development of New Leadership Initiative

One of Cynthia’s clients wanted to overhaul a leadership development program that was not working well – and create something more effective to replace it. They had some broad concepts they were playing with – but no plan of action.

Cynthia joined the staff at their headquarters for one day.

In a matter of hours, they figured out how to phase out the old program, defined the new program, created a two-year timeline, flushed out some potential marketing issues – and received senior staff approval.

The team was very excited at the end of their day with Cynthia!

Executive Coaching and Leadership Development

Cynthia was contracted to help a new Executive Director transition his job from what had traditionally been a glorified office manager to a strategic CEO.

For nine months, Cynthia worked both on site and virtually with the CEO to help him clarify his vision of what could be, hone some strategic skills and lead his team into a new culture.

Cynthia also did staff development when she came to headquarters to do face time with the CEO so the staff would understand some of the language and processes she was teaching the CEO.

This CEO is now known as a strategic leader in the association world.
