Meet Cynthia D'Amour, MBA

Having served more than 40 total years on volunteer boards and recruited more than 250 members, Cynthia D’Amour knows first hand the key issues that association leaders face every day in dealing with Generation Me.

For the last twelve years, Cynthia D'Amour has worked with association leaders and staff to help get more members involved using a relationship-based approach.

Cynthia has a degree in marketing and has done extensive graduate work in the areas of super-accelerated learning, communication skills and family dynamics.

The joy of relationship building is also in Cynthia's genes. Her mother makes friends out of strangers everywhere she goes and Cynthia's dad has been president of practically every organization he's ever joined.

Cynthia uses her experience as an 8th grade teacher and manager at Macy's to create a fun approach to developing leadership skills and facilitating strategic meetings.

As Vice President of Communications and Member Services for the Michigan Association of CPAs, Cynthia led her team to receive two honorable mentions in the American Society of Association Executives' Associations Advance America program.

Cynthia has received several honors for her work including being listed in Who's Who in Business and Professional Women, named one of the 2000 Notable American Women and was named a 1998 Outstanding Young Michigander by the Michigan Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Cynthia walks her talk about using relationship-building strategies as a leader. Cynthia's active in the Junior League of Ann Arbor, serves as Past Chair of the Components Relations Section Council for the American Society of Association Executives and serves as a marketing expert on Ann Arbor's Athena PowerLink Advisory Panel.

Cynthia is the author of six books including: Go Team Go! How to Lead Today's Volunteers to Victory, How to Turn Generation Me into Active Members of Your Association and How to Recruit Generation Me. She's also a contributor to ASAE's best selling Component Relations Handbook.
